Last night

Too tired to post last night. We decided that we should go out to eat for dinner, so we loaded up the kids and headed out. The kids had their hearts set on macaroni and cheese from Ruby Tuesday. Forgot about rush hour.... forgot about it being Friday night!!! Whizzed past Ruby Tuesday. Packed! Whizzed past several other macaroni and cheese serving establishments. Packed! So Thomas says, "Hey there's a Mexican restaurant down in Cool Springs that's supposed to be good. The kids then look forward to chips and beans and rice. Ok! So to avoid the highway we went the back way! What would ordinarily take 10 minutes took 30 (with 3 hungry, cranky kids-- one of which is teething!) We pull into the Mexican restaurant and look at the sign: Smokey Joes BBQ. Crap! Well, it used to be here!
Thomas: "I can't do BBQ again! I'm sick of BBQ! All this town has is BBQ! (while not literally true....close enough)
All the rest of us: "Ditto!"
We aimlessly drive around and spy a Macaroni Grill that does not appear to have people spilling out the front doors into the parking lot. Glimpses of macaroni and cheese abound! We park (which took a long time....which should have been a clue to us!) and then a moment of lucidity breaks through the hunger, I say, "Let's not get everyone out yet. I'll go see how long the wait is. Let's just say I didn't ask. There is a carefully hidden waiting area in that place. Talk about jammed! The Macaroni Grill people are onto us parents. They know that if you get all your kids out of car seats and into coats and hats, it will be very unlikely that you'll turn around and go back to your car and do it all over again while they scream about how hungry they are. They figure you'll stick it out and buy food from them.
We went to Sam's Club for pizza.
Since I can't have milk products anymore, I got a grilled stuft burrito from Taco Bell with no cheese or sauce on the way home. It was better than you might think.
