Going Back a Bit....

I am trying to catch up a little on my blogging before I forget everything entirely. The last day of our '07-'08 school year, we held a "Thanksgiving Feast". We had been studying the Pilgrims and Plymouth for quite awhile. We searched for traditional foods that the Pilgrims and Indians really had on hand at that First Thanksgiving. It was very funny trying to find a whole turkey that didn't need to be thawed.......(because I didn't have time to thaw it by the time I got to the store to find one!) but I actually did. Kroger had a few that they wanted to get rid of and gave me pretty good discount.

Our menu:

Roast turkey

Mashed parsnips and squash

Indian Sobaheg (beans, squash, sunflower seeds and turkey in a tasty casserole)
Stuffing

Pumpkin pudding

We invited Gramma Dee, Daddy, and our good friends Paula, Graceanna, and Faithlyn Hall who had also studied Pilgrims earlier in the year. The kids were only interested in the turkey, but the adults enjoyed the rest of the meal.

After we ate, the kiddos put on a play written by Lily about the Pilgrims.......Priscilla Mullins, Myles Standish and Squanto figuring in principally.

......a successful end of year celebration!

Maggie say "cluck, cluck." I broke out in laughter each time she said it. So cute.
