Apron Swap ETC.....

Here's the apron I made for my swap partner Adrienne in Virginia. She is an incredibly gracious lady and fellow seamstress with a blog, here: http://www.someofakind.blogspot.com/.
The theme for this Sassy Apron Swap was "Summer". Nothing says summer so well as daisies, ladybugs and red gingham! I had so much fun putting this together!

A couple detail shots........

I didn't get my "Havana Nights" apron made for the Tie One On challenge this time. Maybe next time :).
In other news.......
We have made and planted 2 square foot garden boxes! We are planting on our first spin, lots of tomatoes (red and a couple yellow), cucumbers, lettuce, peas, green beans, basil, oregano, green peppers, red peppers, yellow peppers and sunflowers.

Here's Maggie trying to water the garden:

We hope to grow broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, spinach, carrots, onion, winter squash and pumpkins in the fall. We started late so we won't really harvest probably til end of August or early September. We'll see......
It's really fun watching the plant's progress! I told Thomas that now I have something to look forward to in Summer....even if it is unbelievably hot for June!
Here are the rose bushes Thomas planted for me on the side of our house:

The picture really doesn't do them justice. There are 2 deep pink bushes, 1 yellow and one orange bush. Thomas is going to use a dark mulch to encircle them in a kidney shape and then lighter mulch around the kidney later this summer when he has a little extra time.

I went to the Middle Tennessee Homeschool Curriculum Fair in Mid-May with my friend Paula. It is our annual no-kids trek to the State Fairgrounds. We had a great, tiring, fun day together looking at curriculum for next year and gabbing to our heart's content! I came home and that weekend ordered my books for next year. They came in last week. Pulling the new shiny books out of the box always invigorates me, and gives me a well-needed enthusiasm for planning my next year.

I feel like I should put a warning on my posts like I saw on a sewing tutorial not long ago: Beware....Image Obese.
I am off to shower (and it's only 1:50 pm!). Don't be alarmed. I'm not still in my pjs, although that has been known to happen occasionally around here.......I'm just sweaty from working in the yard. TMI??
